Our Mission Statement:
Pony Up Rescue for Equines was organized to serve two important purposes:
-Small scale hands-on rescue of horses in need that have competitive potential for hunt seat, dressage, eventing
and related activities. We are not specifically focusing on any one breed, but rather horses of various breeds
that are "diamonds in the rough." We seek to turn their lives around with proper nutrition, veterinary care,
training and competition.
-Organization and management of a wide variety of fundraising events designed to benefit or partially benefit
other worthy equine charities in the Pacific Northwest.
-We believe that it is not enough to rescue horses from starvation or slaughter. In order to ensure their safety
in the future, we seek to give them the training they need to find excellent homes for the rest of their lives
and reduce the odds that they will ever wind up in jeopardy again.
-We work with the students in the Pierce County Running Start Program and young adults within the Kitsap
Community Resource Program who wish to volunteer their time and increase their knowledge of horses. At Pony
Up Rescue they will learn hands on about horses, their proper care and management. Students work for a
semester at the farm, during which time students will begin to examine the real issues of unwanted and
neglected horses. Students are asked to help budget, plan and implement a fundraising event during the
semester. The education and interest of these students will impact the future of our society and how we treat
animals.
